It includes a town setting, a small wilderness area with a number of keyed encounters, a set of underground lairs for various monstrous creatures, and an abandoned manor house. The Chaotic Caves is suitable for a group of first to third level characters, and a number of pregenerated characters are provided for those who wish to get underway quickly.

Rising out of the vast emptiness of the blue ocean is a lush green island filled with ancient beasts and scattered strange ruins waiting to be explored. Monkey Isle is an adventure module for the Basic Fantasy Role-Playing Game. It includes a map of the island, numerous adventure locations (both wilderness and dungeon), and an extensive section detailing new monsters for the game. Monkey Isle is suitable for a group of fourth to sixth level characters.

Basic Fantasy - Verarbeitungsqualität der amazon-Ausgabe

Mein Exemplar der € 4,50-Ausgabe des Basic Fantasy Role-Playing Game von amazon.de ist inzwischen eingetroffen. Die Verarbeitungsqualität ist nicht gerade überragend. Die Angabe im Buch zeigt, dass amazon hier als Hersteller auftritt ("Printed in Germany. Amazon Distribution"). Das Papier hat Copy-Shop Qualität und ist stark gewellt, so als wäre hier kopiert und nicht gedruckt worden. Die Druckqualität geht in Ordnung, allerdings müssen Abstriche bei der Qualität des Covers gemacht werden. Beim Auspacken hatte ich sofort den Eindruck, ein gebrauchtes Exemplar erhalten zu haben. Das Cover weist an Ecken und Rändern bereits zahlreiche leichte Knicke auf. Vor allem aber löst sich an den Rändern an mehreren Stellen bereits die transparente Schutzschicht vom eigentlichen Cover ab. Darüber hinaus wurde beim Binden nicht sorgfältig gearbeitet, das Cover wirde nicht zu 100% gerade aufgebracht. Dies fällt beim Betrachten des Covers nicht sofort auf, wohl aber, wenn man den Buchrücken betrachtet. Hier hat der Schriftzug mit Titel und Autor keinen gleichbleibenden Abstand zur Buchkante. Die Bindung selbst wirkt stabil, hier wird die Zeit zeigen, ob sich Seiten lösen werden oder nicht.

Das Problem mit den Knicken und der sich ablösenden Schutzschicht kenne ich so bereits von den Softcover-Print on Demand-Ausgaben von Lulu, bei amazon ist die Qualität allerdings im Vergleich noch einen Tick schlechter als bei Lulu. Wer also ein Sammlerstück für das Bücherregal sucht, sollte über ein Lulu-Print on Demand-Hardcover nachdenken. Als Arbeitsexemplar ist die amazon-Ausgabe allerdings völlig ausreichend. Und bei einem Preis von € 4,50 kann man nun wirklich keine bibliophile Ausgabe mit Goldschnitt erwarten.

Morgansfort: The Western Lands Campaign is a campaign module (a group of connected adventures) for the Basic Fantasy Role-Playing Game. This module is intended for 2 to 8 beginning (1st level) player characters, and furthermore is suitable for beginning players as well. This campaign module includes: The Western Lands: A briefly sketched campaign area; Morgansfort: A detailed "home base" for an adventuring party; The Old Island Fortress: A two level dungeon suitable for beginning adventurers; The Nameless Dungeon: A tough three level dungeon; and The Cave of the Unknown: A dungeon controlled by an evil magic-user.

Fortress, Tomb, and Tower: The Glain Campaign is a multi-module for use with the Basic Fantasy Role-Playing Game. This module includes adventures for low to mid level player characters. The book includes: Fortress of the Iron Duke, an adventure in a castle which has been taken over by an evil force; Tomb of Karsma Megalos, an expedition to the last resting place of a great barbarian chieftain; and Crooked Rock Tower, an adventure which sees unlikely allies raiding an old wizard's tower.
